Calacatta Viola

Calacatta Viola can make a single surface the center of a room. The useful question is how the movement will be framed, joined, and carried through the actual pieces selected for the project.

Choose by full slab.

The movement and balance vary from slab to slab. Share a visual reference and project brief, and Mark can present current selections with full slab photographs and the details needed to make a confident choice.

Work with the purple movement

Calacatta Viola ranges from open white space with isolated burgundy forms to dense, almost all-over pattern. Its strongest areas should be positioned intentionally before cutting.

For a bookmatched wall or island with waterfall ends, compare every slab from the proposed lot in sequence. A beautiful single slab may not provide the continuity a multi-piece project needs.

Finish, detail, and daily use

Polish emphasizes depth and contrast. A matte finish can make the same colors feel quieter; ask to see the finish on the selection being offered.

This is marble. Discuss acid sensitivity, cleaning, sealing, and the expected patina with the fabricator before choosing it for a kitchen or other demanding surface.

Source the actual selection

Send drawings or rough dimensions, the intended finish, location, and a reference image showing the balance of white and purple you prefer. We can then look for current slabs and review usable yield with the fabricator.

Selection considerations

  • The balance of light ground and dense, dark pattern changes the visual weight of an island, wall, or surround.
  • Photographs of the exact available lot should be reviewed together if matching, return panels, or repeated surfaces matter.
  • Finish, edge details, use conditions, and maintenance expectations should be agreed with the fabricator before specification.

Questions before sourcing

  • Is the stone a focal feature or one of several finishes?
  • Where will seams and returns fall?
  • Does the design require adjacent slabs from one lot?
  • What finish and use conditions are planned?

What we verify before a quote

  1. Current slab photographs in sequence
  2. Block or lot and finish details
  3. Scaled layout with seams and returns
  4. Fabricator review of use and maintenance
  5. Written quote for the actual selection

Common questions

Can I choose from a small sample?

A sample helps with color and finish, but the layout needs current full slab photographs.

Will every slab have the same purple pattern?

No. The scale and placement of the movement vary materially between selections and lots.
